Hotel Perle

Hand-distressed limestone and bluestone checkerboard floors and a Calacatta Turquoise and green marble lobby pattern for Hotel Perle in New Orleans.

Hotel Perle

The brief

Hotel Perle is a boutique hotel in New Orleans, designed by Ward + Gray, one of the design firms we work with most. The brief was Old World character with Southern warmth, and floors with an aged, storied look.

What we supplied

We supplied two floors:

  • A checkerboard of limestone and bluestone, with a hand-distressed surface on every tile.
  • A patterned lobby floor in Calacatta Turquoise and green marble.

How it came together

New stone looks new. To get the aged look the designers wanted, each limestone and bluestone tile was distressed by hand, so the surface is soft and uneven, like a floor worn in by years of feet. The light limestone and dark bluestone were paired in a simple checkerboard, so the texture does the talking.

The lobby pattern is the opposite: two strong marbles, a vivid Calacatta Turquoise and a deep green, set together to the designers' layout as the first thing guests see.

The result

The hotel opened in 2025. The checkerboard floors give it the storied, European feel the design called for, and the colored marble in the lobby gives it a signature. Together they show how much a floor can set the mood of a whole building.

Hotel Perle is one of several hotels we have supplied with Ward + Gray, along with The Sanderling Resort and The Bellevue in Philadelphia.
